IF

IF

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master,
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936)

Still I Rise by Maya Angelou

You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.

Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.

Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.

Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.

Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.

You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.

Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?

Out of the huts of history's shame
I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.

A Simple Act Of Caring Creates An Endless Ripple

A meaningful and short video on what giving is all about.

"you never know how far your ripples will reach"

She firmly believes in that.

RIP Joan Rivers - More Humor Injected Into Heaven

Heaven just got a little bit funnier with more entertainers.

Rivers had said “I’ve had so much plastic surgery, when I die they’ll donate my body to Tupperware,” and this statement alone showed how confident a celebrity she was, honest to the core and unafraid of criticism.

She has designed a colorful image (who said death had to be drab and dull?) of the quote that struck her the most. Which was what she wished for herself too in her life on this earth. That she be the voice of a friend who was uncertain and afraid, the pitch of a family member who could not articulate his inner fears and concerns..

RIP Joan Rivers, a bolt of lightning who was always full of exuberance and zest.

OOTD

All 7 pieces are new, and she has worn them from Monday to Sunday.

Happy outfits make happy days!

(She has nothing to wear the week after)

((She needs 7 more for the week after the next))

(((Itchy fingers online make happy purchases for happy outfits, and happy outfits make happy days, happy days make happy smiles, happy smiles make happy health....)))

=there will always be reasons (good reasons, mind you, given that health is of paramount importance) to get that number, or two, or 7!=

*frills, crochets, see-throughs, bohemians, laces, bustiers, nonya-hems, fit-and-flares - fling them all in her direction!*

((((She is usually a very private and discreet peep, but well, caution to the wind just for today))))

With Destruction Comes Renovation

Something fun is brewing in the air, and this is the one and only clue she will drop!

RIP Robin Williams - Never a Dull Moment

(from Dead Poet's Society, her favourite memory of the wonderfully talented actor)

His death silenced one of the most powerful voices.
Yet, he still makes us laugh.

Dedicating this to her dearest sister, who is expecting another bundle of joy.

Kleenex, everyone, Kleenex!

A Thirst For Home - A Book

She found this by chance. Summary from amazon.com. Sounded like a good and easy read (32 pages) and she will get it for her little one. Hopefully this is available in her sunny island.

There is much to be grateful for in life, and much that all have taken for granted. Books like these nourish the soul, and feed the young (and adult!) minds with gratitude.

Alemitu lives with her mother in a poor village in Ethiopia, where she must walk miles for water and hunger roars in her belly. Even though life is difficult, she dreams of someday knowing more about the world. When her mother has no choice but to leave her at an orphanage to give her a chance at a better life, an American family adopts Alemitu.  She becomes Eva in her new home in America, and although her life there is better in so many ways, she’ll never forget her homeland and the mother who gave up so much for her. Told through the lens that water connects all people everywhere, this eye-opening, emotional story will get readers thinking about the world beyond their own.

Home Vs Work Moms

An eternal struggle between the both ends of the rope. And her verdict is: do whatever works because it is your job, your child, your life. The entire world can be critics but nobody else can dictate what you really want to be. Listen to the inner voice within you. That is the choice you have made.

And trod in that path henceforth, and be liberated. Because happy and well-adjusted children come from families of all sorts, especially from happy and well-adjusted moms like you and me.

Hope Fades...

Her heart is broken on this piece of news. A tragedy that might have been prevented with better safety measures in place, with the right leaders onboard the sinking ship. Sadness has no depth for such devastation. She imagines their final moments - the fear, anguish, panic and finally, acceptance. God help them, each and every one of them.

Food for thought: Could this be classified as murder?

The Best Things In Life Are Free

Lil one did this during her snack time in school.

"...worth melting for", indeed, in the words of OLAF...

Meals and More Meals

If there was a good excuse to binge herself silly, it's during the month of April, only. Don't get her wrong. She loves food, just in a right portions. With 6 lunches and 2 dinners within a week, she is ready to attack her next main tonight, with someone silly and goofy just like her; they have been friends for over two decades, and will continue to be so.

If she ever gets Alzheimer's someday, this will serve as a memory on what she had had and why age never mattered. Okay, she would admit that age maybe does matter. But only in the sleep-bug department. Everything else remains pretty status quo, whether she is turning 38, or not.

She told her friends and family that no she needed no gifts, and would rather they pay for the meals and yak the lunch/dinner away. Here was what she stuffed down her throats thus far...

-sushi tei (the clique that would always insist on this, because they have never ending vouchers)
-wang's (lovely for a quickie lunch)
-mad for garlic (goodness in that yucky garlic!)
-astons (think "beef")
-mutton soup in hot and stuffy kopitiam, but completely worth the while, since they are a pair of inseparable turtle doves
-bangkok jam (sour+spice and everything nice)
-skinny pizza (dined with her bff, the one who eats less than half of what she eats, which is like 1/8 of any ordinary peep)
-samy's fish head (one and only companion for this meal)

For someone so used to the regular chicken rice and wanton mee, the meals were lavish (and somewhat unnecessary, although those who paid insisted otherwise). They made her feel blessed and loved. But a birthday without lavish meals is her ultimate aim. She just does not know how to get that message across.

The gifts she has received? Oh the GIFTS SHE HAS RECEIVED!!!!

Loved them all, and she counts her blessings for her friends.

To everyone, "38 is a great way to be!!"

Les Miserables Medley - A Talent Pianist

So many talented pianists on YouTube! She enjoyed this rendition immensely (despite that he overlooked one of her favourites, "STARS"), and hopes he will someday be spotted, or has he already been? :)

"Master Of The House" is perfect!

Frozen - Let It Go

She loves his rendition of Frozen - Let It Go.

Enjoy watching him. Some day soon, she is sure, he will be famous.
